Here's the official info on how to post an image in comments (http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=6&q=image). How does that compare to what you did?

Hmm, looks like the only thing I didn't do was give it an X Y size. I copied the URL from the scrapbook... *shrugs* I'm heading to bed meself. Give the business my love.
(And, kiddo, get some sleep, take your vitamins, etc. etc. Stress is bad for you and you gotta take care of the engine. Be a good girl and I'll make you another seal.)

I usually just cheat. I select Journal Update, insert the image, and then copy that into my comments. Saves me from having to brain any HTML.

*scampers off to bed to dream of shiny new seals*
