my final piece is finished

The wee urn-thing is finished. It's about 3.75" high. It started out as a 9" circle of 18 gauge copper that I raised using hammers and stakes made of wood and iron. It was fascinating to see how everyones' urns were different--some had taller necks, some were squatter, etc. We patinaed them using liver of sulfur and heat, and then I used very fine steel wool to take the patina off the high points and clean off the matte finish. It was waxed inside and outside to keep the finish.

Whew. That was a lot of work. My right arm is now significantly stronger and more muscled than my left. :-)

Saturday I'm going to (hopefully) take the cats to get their shots and then go see Danny Boyle's Frankenstein at the Alamo Drafthouse South with [personal profile] dremiel and the Boy. Then I'm going to game!

Sunday I hope to get the bedroom in order. I bought the hanging rod for my vinyl coated metal shelves today and I plan on turning it into a wardrobe of sorts for my tshirts.

It's lovely. I'm no artist, but to an untrained eye, I think it's very nice.

The urn is gorgeous! Love the patina, love the shape.

Have a great weekend.
