Notes on a Wednesday
Feb. 2nd, 2011 08:58 pmStill haven't finished the wire wrap project. When it's really cold my hands don't like to work on detail things. But I'm thinking it through and it should warm up by the weekend, so I plan on working on it then.
The coppersmithing class is going great. We're making a footed bowl with a riveted top for our first project. I'm the only jeweler-type person--we have several Art Metal majors, a couple of welders, and a blacksmith.
I'm having fun working on pieces that are so much larger than I normally work on. I come home from class all sweaty and filthy even as bloody cold as it is. We get to work with this really huge propane torch that sounds like a dragon--copper absorbs a LOT of heat and it takes a lot of fire to anneal a bowl made of 16 ga metal.
Still cleaning up the living room and finding places for everything that got moved. Still haven't worked on the library or my bedroom. :-) Still culling things.
The cats have been either playing Crazy Cats Run The Indy 500 or Let's Bat Everything Everywhere. Spencer darted out this morning but I was able to catch him before he went too far. I was able to get him out from under the car by luring him out with a twig. He's such a goober.
It's been crazy cold here. Never got above freezing today and we've been having rolling blackouts because some power plants have gone offline due to the weather. Haven't had one at my place yet, but I'm keeping my flashlight nearby just in case. Right now it's 20F, 14 with the wind chill. Gross.
Finally got all my tax forms so I can do my taxes.
My knee has slowly been getting better. Yay!
Hawaii 5-0, Criminal Minds, Fringe, and Supernatural continue to make me happy. I've also discovered a love for the auction shows--Storage Wars, Auction Kings, and the like. And I have the complete series of the Wire to catch up on.
How are y'all doing?
