Wolverine--my thoughts

lillian13You know, you'd think they'd get a director and a writer for these enormous superhero blockbusters who actually understand superheroes. And blockbusters. Did the last X-Men movie teach them nothing? More to the point, didn't The Dark Knight or Iron Man?
The more I think about this movie, the more disappointed I am. It contained the seeds of two good movies. Instead, we got the Cliffs Notes versions of both of them, squashed together into one. I would have loved to see a Team Badass movie, then a Team Badass Breaks Up and Reforms Years Later to Rescue Mutants movie. Instead we got a hurried bit of Team Badass that really left me wanting more, followed by boring things, then not enough Team Badass Reunited, and Not Nearly Enough Gambit.
Everyone was wasted in this movie. Taylor Kitsch gets a couple of scenes. Dominic Monaghan doesn't even get that. Will.I.Am gets some good bits, as does Kevin Durand. Both Hugh Jackman and Liev Schrieber looked like they were having fun, but...oddly enough, the one I wanted to see more of was Ryan Reynolds. He was having a blast, and I wanted more, more, more. (I am on record as saying that for such a hottie lineup, we got almost no skin. If this movie had had a similar female lineup *cough* Charlies Angels *cough*, we would be guaranteed at least one shower/bathing suit scene per character. Yes, we got Jackman's butt. It's a very nice butt. I still feel cheated.)
And they keep screwing with the continuity! (Large nerdy rant about the Hudsons and Emma Frost and Deadpool deleted.)
Anyway. It was fun to see with my niece and nephew, saw some ads for movies I won't see (Transformers 2, anyone?), and had a swell milkshake. Now I'm waiting for Star Trek. I had damn well better get my shower scene.
