I have two shows in April--one this weekend, in San Antonio, and the other at the end of the month in Georgetown. The Red Poppy Festival takes the large booth fee up front and the Starving Artists show takes 10% of sales off the back end. It's easier to swallow, anyway.
The Starving Artists Show should be good--I'm hoping so, anyway. Big outdoor festival in downtown, cheap ($3) admission. My brother and I made weights for the tent, as EZUps have this tendency to take off in a high wind. And since the City of San Antonio takes a dim view of staking your tent into their asphalt.... I'll have to get up veeery early Saturday morning--it's about 1.5 hours each way, and I'll only have 3 hours to set up for a 10 am opening. Even with gas creeping up again, it's still cheaper to drive back and forth than stay in a motel; plus, I get to sleep on my own bed! As long as the wind stays down, I'll be happy. And as long as, you know, people, buy things.
Thoughts on SGA, comments on stuff I keep seeing in fanfic:
John Sheppard doesn't have a Southern drawl. At best, it's upper Midwest, probably the Great Lakes area. He may have spent time in the South, but not much. Listen to Robert Forster, then John. Tell me they aren't similar.
Ronon is not some hugely enormous person. Jason Moma (6'5") is a few inches taller than Joe Flannigan (6' 2"), comfortably in, "Gee, he's damn tall!" territory. But he's not enormous. He looks rangy, unfinished to me. He moves far too lightly to be huge. Big, yeah, and very graceful with it. But not a wall or anything.
More as I think of them.
