So, I'm guessing this is a bad sign...
Jan. 22nd, 2008 09:22 pm ...I turned on my oven a while ago, and heard an odd *clinking* noise coming from inside. Opened oven. The bottom heating element had a very bright hot spot and was sagging at said hot spot. After thoughtful consideration ("Holy shit!") I turned off the oven and did not make the cake. Luckily I had only opened and poured out the mix without adding any wet ingredients. I have emailed my apartment office. (The nice thing is, I know it will get fixed ASAP. I still owe my maintenance guy a cake!)
The horror convention was interesting. Like anime, I know just small bits about the genre. I've seen a lot of the older films, but I have no interest in the current crop of torture porn flicks. I did pick up some cheap dvds (Hangar 18 and Damnation Alley, if you must know) and a soundtrack (Swashbucklers) I'd been looking for. Sales were decent enough that we'll probably be at another horror convention in Dallas in February. My bank account will be happy.
I met Jared Padalecki's mom (short) and his girlfriend (seriously short, she must climb him like a cliff). They bought a couple of Supernatural t-shirts from me! Mom got the collage shirt and his GF got the Dean Winchester shirt in an XL so Jared could wear it to annoy Jensen. (Both are here.) His mom is really nice and is so proud of her son. I did not get to meet him or to stand in line for anything. The idea of paying $50 to get in line to get an autograph makes me throw up in my mouth a little. I met Tom Savini, who is really hot. *sigh* Saw Robert Rodriguez as he walked by, being importuned by a bunch of chicks trying to get a part in his next movie...
I withdrew from the Art Metals class. Driving ~18 miles each way 4 days a week, plus having no real free time during the week just wasn't going to work. :-( Oh well, I can always sign up again.
