Getting ready
Oct. 27th, 2010 10:20 amAs per usual, I'm running behind on getting ready for the show (Austin Celtic Festival) next week. I have an enormous pile of stuff to do (I finally ordered more jewelry boxes this morning!), and very little time to do it. I will persevere!
Of course tonight I'm carving a pumpkin and watching Project Runway.
(In my defense, we do have a pumpkin-carving contest at work and I found several Dr Who-themed ones. I'm thinking I'll do the Cyberman. Plus I really do fast-forward through PR--I'm mainly interested in the clothes and not so much the drama.)
I also have, have, have to get my haircut on Saturday (makes appointment). It's gotten past "grown out of the cut" and into "WTF hair?" territory. It doesn't help that the new med I'm on makes me sweat--only on my scalp, so my hair looks like crap anyway. I don't want to scare away customers at my booth!
So far we've had a pretty dry autumn; I sure hope it holds through the Celtic Festival. Last year it poured on Sunday, which sucked.
I had a very interesting and amusing conversation this morning with a co-worker from Atlanta and a co-worker from Germany (I'm a native Texan) about regional accents. I was entertained to find out that a Scottish accent is much easier for a German to understand than a Londoner accent--I think it's the gutturals and rolling "r"s.
