Women of Sci-Fi Calendar. Oy!

Well, there was this ad on the Locus Magazine website. Against my better judgement, I clicked it.

Good. God. Rachel Luttrell is in this. (Now I understand all the bad wig comments in the commentaries for S1 in SGA. Her real hair is beautiful, though.)

The text is hilarious:

"Brought to you by actors Christopher Judge and Michael Shanks, the 2007 Women of Sci-Fi Calendar will transport you to new and fascinating territory. Christopher Judge and Michael Shank gather the foremost actresses from your favourite sci-fi shows, such as Andromeda, Smallville, Stargate SG-1, and Stargate Atlantis. This fantastic array of talents is available to you only in the 2007 Women in Sci-Fi Calendar."

I mean, dudes, if you want to play off the fact that two of the hotties from SG-1 put this together, at least spell their names consistently!

And there is a DVD. *sigh*

Holy Grail Found at Best Buy! Spoooooon!

The Tick  vs. Season 1 is out on DVD! The Tick  vs. Season 1 is out on DVD! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

(fans face) Sorry about that. But if you are a true cult fangirl, like me, you've been waiting for this for literally years. Ben Edlund has been dealing with all sorts of legal crap over the rights and finally they can release (almost) all of the Season One epidodes. (Except for The Tick vs. the Mole Men, but I think Marvel is behind that one.)

But I plan on watching the whole thing this weekend with fellow addicts.

Best Buy has it on sale for $19.99. Go, buy, enjoy the best absurdist cartoon humor ever. That is all.

(And next week? Supernatural Season One, baby!)

I'm wondering if MS and CJ know they're names are being used to sell this thing. I mean, no way is it legit.

Actually, they are involved in the calender. Michael Shanks has mentioned it in interviews, and it has also been mentioned at the Gateworld news. If I remember correctly, MS's production company is behind it, and CJ took some of the pictures.

I'm glad I asked then, because it just didn't look like the kind of thing they'd do, but then what the heck do I know? Personally, I think the pictures look more like playmate wannabes instead of women of scifi. JMO.

I gotta agree--that's why I posted it. It's so "WTF?"

Chris said at the end of the dvd that they were working on the Men calendar. I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm at DragonCon this weekend and I'm going to get Rachel and Brandy Ledford to sign the calendar.

Just wondering if the Men of SciFi is going to be beefcake to the Women's sex kitten.

No argument there. I think the target audience is very clear.

A preview copy of The Tick came to my office Tuesday and I nearly tackled the guy it was sent to. "But you can't possibly love The Tick more than mmmeeeeeeee!!!!" I whined wholeheartedly. ... So we had a quote-off to see who actually had the most love. ... It was a tossup, but I just let the bastard have it and ordered it from Amazon. IT GOT HERE TODAY!! And, yea, the kiddlets will finally see what Mommy and Daddy have been quoting for the past 12 freakin' years.

SPPOOOOONNNN!
