OMG, I am exhausted.

I spent the long 4-day weekend in Atlanta, helping my very good friends sort their stuff for a major move. They're going from over 3400 square feet to less than 900 in San Francisco. And you really, really don't want to know what they're paying in rent in Cali. So, I spent the whole time  opening things, moving things, and making my friends make lots and lots of quick decisions. On the plus side, the wifely half is an amazing cook. (And her dad had bought them some hideously expensive basalmic vinegar she let me taste. God, that was excellent!) I rarely eat so well, ever. And they have two very nice cats, who kept me from missing my guys too much.

(Funny note. In every room of their house, I found scotch tape and batteries. In every room. It became our mantra over the weekend. "Hey, is there any tape? Because we might have to go out and get some!")

That in an of itself wasn't very tiring. It was the 4th of July Memorial Thunderstorms. They held up my plane as it came into Atlanta. The plane was only 15 minutes late, which meant I could conceivably make my Houston connection.

Then we sat on the runway in Atlanta for another hour. We landed about 30 minutes after my plane (the last one out) was supposed to leave. But lo! The plane to Austin was waiting on the crew, also delayed by weather. We left Houston at 1:20 am. Landed about 2. My brother called the shuttle folks, but I had to sweet-talk the driver into detouring to his house to get my keys, as I'd left them in my sister-in-law's car, thinking she'd be able to pick me up. And my brother would leave my keys on his front porch but wouldn't  drive 3 minutes to leave them on my porch.

Anyway. I got home about 4 am, and finally fell asleep about 5. I called my boss at 4 and left a voice mail saying I'd be in tomorrow, 'cause I really wasn't going to be worth jack shit. And after staggering around the grocery store, I believe I made the right call. I figure I'll crash in a few hours.
