Also started my cabachon making class at the Gem & Mineral Society. When the first one is finished I'll post pictures. As I keep telling my customers at shows, "No, I don't cut and polish my own stones. If I had that capability I'd never leave the house!" It's very addictive and I'm Little Miss Perfectionist, so it's perfect for me. I've got to be careful, though, the muscle in my right hand between my thumb and forefinger is already sore. Took a double dose of Naproxyn so all should be well in the morning.

Date: 2006-11-16 08:55 pm (UTC)I'd like to learn cab cutting sometime, myself. Sometime when I figure out how to go about getting pictures on my LJ I'm going to post a few of my wire pieces. Anyway, I hope that you are enjoying your cab making class and I'll be looking forward to seeing them when you post them to your LJ. (:

Date: 2006-11-16 11:57 pm (UTC)Cab cutting and polishing is pretty easy--you just need the equipment. If there is a gem and mineral society or a rockhound club in your area you might look into joining, if only for the classes.

It's my book list on Amazon, I highly recommend the first book to learn about wrapping cabs. I also have another LJ page, by_lillian, that focuses more on my jewelry work.
