We cannot be together today, though we are only 3 hours apart.  Here is some silliness for your day...

You share your birthdate with:

John Rhys-Davies
Kurt Loder (of MTV fame. He's only a year younger than John)
Michael Palin (!)
Lance Henricksen
Tammy Wynette
Sage Stallone (because every good movie dynasty has to start somewhere)
Barbara Taylor Bradford (because everyone needs a connection to a romance writer)
Tyrone Power (you lucky girl)B
Brian Williams (the news anchor guy)
Bill Ward (drummer for Black Sabbath)
Shawn Drover (drummer for Megadeth...are we seeing a pattern here?)
Blind WIllie McTell (he wrote "Statesboro Blues")

also

Karl Marx
Nellie Bly
John Batterson Stetson (the hat maker)
...and a porn star named Bianca Butthole. Think of her, and know your life could be so much worse.

On this date in history:
1260 - Kublai Khan becomes ruler of the Mongol Empire.
1809 - Mary Kies becomes the first woman awarded a U.S. patent, for a technique of weaving straw with silk and thread.
1821 - Napoleon Bonaparte dies.
1865 - In North Bend, Ohio (a suburb of Cincinnati), the first train robbery in the United States takes place.
1891 - The Music Hall in New York (now known as Carnegie Hall) has its grand opening and first public performance, with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky as the guest conductor.
1904 - Pitching against the Philadelphia Athletics at the Huntington Avenue Grounds, Cy Young of the Boston Americans threw the first perfect game in the modern era of baseball.
1925 - Scopes Trial: John T. Scopes is served an arrest warrant for teaching evolution in violation of the Butler Act.
1944 - Mohandas Gandhi is freed from prison.
1961 - Mercury program: Mercury-Redstone 3 – Alan Shepard becomes the first American to travel into space, making a sub-orbital flight of 15 minutes.
2002 - The World Wrestling Federation changes its name to World Wrestling Entertainment due to a lawsuit from the World Wildlife Fund.

In many Asian countries, this date is celebrated as Buddha's birthday.
It is International Midwives Day.
International Totse Day (look it up for a laugh)
And of course, Cinco de Mayo.

oh, cool!

I knew about Michael Palin, Blind Willie, and Karl Marx, but just about everything else was news to me. I love that my birthday marks the first train robbery in the States. Heee! This is awesome. Thank you for putting it together.

I'm sorry we won't be able to hook up today but we'll make it happen before long. :D
