b) Tag seven people to do the same

In other news, I just spent too much money on my car (there goes my painfully acquired "cushion"), I have to deal with drunks for 2 1/2 days at North Texas Irish Festival this weekend. But I get paid for it, and I have a buyer for my Wii, so I won't be broke, just annoyed. Because I think the work I just had done on my car was caused by the last place I got my car worked on. I'm making calls next week. And possibly writing letters.

Next week: Two concerts! Voting!

Stolen shamelessly from [personal profile] blueraccoon:

1. Pick 10 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Italicize and bold when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. Looking them up (and then posting your answers) is, of course, cheating.

[personal profile] melagan is hosting a John Sheppard: That Thing we Don't Talk About or Hug Meme.

My thread is here.

It's weird. I'm very tired, headachy, and my Eustachian tubes (my ears some too) hurt. My throat hurts intermittently. Taking out the trash left  me exhausted, and the less said about how I feel after buying cat food and Maxi Pads (because everything has to happen at once, you know) the better. I did treat myself to a box of Russel Stover Assorted Dark Chocolates and the only canned iced tea I really like: AriZona Black & White, because it a) tastes like iced tea, and b) is only flavored with sugar, and not a huge amount of that.

How many have your name?

Yep, and one of them is my cousin. :-) If my aunt was still alive, I'd know two of them. Wait, I know one other, she's a psychiatrist here in town who doesn't go by her first name (mine), but I do sometimes get calls and mail for her.

Anyway, called in sick today because I got the Japanese Document From Hell to the point where anyone with 1/4 of a brain could work on it yesterday, so today I'm giving the virus or whateverthehellitis a chance to work its way out of my system. The first step was, apparently, to sleep for 13 hours, or until my brother called to check up on me. *facepalm*

I will have to leave the bosom of my apartment briefly today--I'm almost out of cat food. At least the weather is still nice, even though it's supposed to turn disgusting tomorrow and Saturday. The cats are all freaked out that I'm home. I guess I'm interrupting plans of World Domination or their sleep patterns or something equally important.

...and Happy Valentines Day for those who celebrate.

Which Stargate Atlantis character are you most like?
Your Result: Dr. Radek Zelenka

Zelenka is smart, and can figure just about anything out if he wanted to, but unfortunately, sometimes lets people get the better of him. You need to stand up for yourself sometimes, but it's alright. Deep down inside you care for the people around you, and you can overcome your fears to help your friends.

cool.

I have mailed off all of my holiday cards. I keep a few in reserve, because there's always a someone I a) forget about or b) who sends me one out of the blue and then I have to send them one... if you want one, let me know.

Slinky, the Cat Without Courage, has been dealing pretty well with the antibiotics he's on, pre-teeth-cleaning. (By "well" I mean running away, huddling into a ball, and acting like the enormous drama queen that he is. I'm so glad I went with the liquid as opposed to the pills.) Tomorrow I get up very early and take him to the vet, and then I'll go help out at the Austin Gem & Mineral Society show for most of the day. The first day is when all the students (kids) come in, and it's generally pretty fun. Then four more days of antibiotics! Whee!

Which Discworld Character are you like (with pics)
created with QuizFarm.com
You scored as The Librarian

You're the Librarian! Once a wizard, now an Orang-utan (due to an unfortunate magical accident), you refuse to be turned back for a few reasons: In this form, it's easier to reach the shelves and hold more books; having the strength of five men makes people return their books on time; life's great philosophical questions boil down to "When do I get my next banana?" You say Oook but are usually understood well enough.

I find it highly amusing that I scored equally well as the Librarian and Vimes, with Death a very close runner-up. I just wish Susan Sto Helit was an option...

Y'all have a great Thanksgiving. Temperature has dropped almost 30 degrees F in the last couple of hours here, supposed to be cold, windy, and wet all weekend. I plan on getting holiday cards done, more cleaning, and finally to get everything transferred over to the Treo my brother bequeathed me when he got a new one. Oh, and sleep. A lot.

So, TV Guide made this list of the top 30 Cult TV Shows. How many have you seen?

Bold those shows where you've seen every episode (or almost).
Underlined if you only watched sometimes and liked what you saw.
Italics for those shows you watched sometimes, and are kind of *meh* about what you saw.
Strikeout those shows you watched sometimes, but didn't like it.
Leave the text as is for shows you haven't seen.

Bonus round: List 5 shows you think should've been on the list, but weren't.

This is a bit different from the last one I did.

As my button used to proclaim, "Oh, no! Not another learning experience!"

The Large Jewelry Project is eating my brain. I'll need to go in and use the classroom on Saturday (go by and hope the class isn't full). Today, in a double fit of idiocy rarely seen in this or any other universe, I managed to not only:

Break 1/2 of my box by stressing the miter joint, breaking the "L" into two rectangles

but then

While I was soldering the two pieces together, I nudged the setup I had holding the bottom half of the "L" at a right angle to the larger piece  so it fell over making a flat, soldered sandwich.

I didn't scream, cry, or swear. I may have burst something vital in my skull keeping all of that inside.

*facepalm*

Fortunately, my instructor (who has the patience of a saint, I swear. Must make him brownies!) was able to heat the damn thing up and tease the pieces apart, so I spent the last 1.5 hours of the class flattening and straightening the pieces, filing off solder, and cleaning up the miter joint so they can be put back together. And since I've lost so much time I can't be as fancy as I want to be with the lid, so instead of 2 hinged lids that are at an angle (like the roof of a house), I'm going to solder a butt joint with the two tops and make a flat lid. Damn it. I will, however, add the cute woven wire interior wall if it kills me.

The other 2 women in my class section are making all of this fun, gorgeous stuff. I'm sweating blood over something so outside my comfort zone (large, precision piece) it isn't even funny, and I just want to smack them. *sigh*

We're taking a break from our big projects next week: starting filigree! ( I get to melt silver into an ingot and roll it out into wire on the rolling mill!) But I'll be working on the Box From Hell, because I still need to solder the sides to the base, solder on the top, cut the whole thing apart, make and install hinges, etc. etc.

The soundtrack of your life meme, as snagged from [personal profile] slodwick  , who got it elsewhere.

1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie.

This is actually my second pass at this; I did something that made the first one disappear completely. Grrrrr.

Go to IMDB.com and look up 10 of your favorite TV shows.
-Post three official IMDB "Plot Keywords" for these 10 picks.
-Have your friends guess the show names

OK, a couple of these will be shamlessly easy. A couple won't. Fair warning: several of my favorite shows are no longer on the air:

#1  Mass destruction--Political opression--Saga
#2  Martial Arts--Spy
#3  Based on Comic--Spoof--Superhero
#4  Spinoff--Punk Rock Girl--Teamwork
#5  Decapitation--Historical--Immortal
#5  Brother Brother relationship--Ghost Hunter--Suspense
#6  Neo Noir--Based on Novel
#7  Sibling Incest Subtext--Death--Memory Loss
#8  Celebrity guest-Sketch comedy--Heckler
#9  Bisexual--Antihero--Spinoff
#10  Good versus Evil--Spinoff--Warrior Race

Winners will be patted on the head and fed virtual chocolate.

And why, oh why, when I enter an LJ name, is it suddenly making a new line?
