Work has been absolutely insane. We're already shorthanded by one person who is doing a tryout as a tech writer, which hasn't helped any at all. Every time I thought I had my work queue under control I'd literally get 7-8 more assignments. And of course, since there is a point release of our flagship software, everything that uses it or is attached to it in some way must update and release as well. And everyone wants everything right now. I have been working non-stop, with only the shortest breaks for getting food (you notice I didn't specify eating--my keyboard is a mess) ever since I got back from San Jose. Honestly, if I wasn't already in for the ticket and such I'd bow out of going to J & H's wedding next week.

But since I'm going, I went clothes shopping last night. (Trufax: I hate to go clothes shopping. I'm fat. Very little looks good on me, and let's face it, most plus-sized clothing is hideous and badly constructed.) But I girded my loins and went to Lane Bryant. Where I met Crystal, a goddess among clothing salespeople. Upon finding out that I was going to a wedding in San Francisco, she made it her mission to get me outfitted.

Not only did she find me (after going into the back room three times) pants that fit and were flattering (and only a teeny bit too long), she found me a jacket, an accomplishment that ranks somewhere up there with building the Louvre. It's cropped, and a tweedy black and grey and white. (She tried to talk me into wearing a camisole underneath it but I drew the line.) It will be just warm enough for SF, and finding a shirt to go under it will be child's play. I do agree that with the black pants the shirt needs to be a nice bright color.

Best part? The jacket was on the clearance rack, and Crystal remarked that I was paying less for it than she did with her employee discount. The pants weren't, but I'll be wearing good black pants at least a couple of times before fall (they will actually be part of a costume I'm putting together for Comic Con). I also picked up 2 lightweight long sleeved shirts that were also on clearance; I'm taking them with me to SF. I got the jacket back from the cleaners today and will take it with me when I go shirt shopping.

Now I need to find that shirt, burn more Daria and The Wire to my iPod, and clean the apartment. They're doing a safety inspection while I'm gone and I don't want them thinking I'm some kind of freaky slob--which I totally am.
