Weekends and RenFaires and Sugar, oh my
Oct. 16th, 2010 09:43 pmThe Igor Bars were a huge hit. Several of the guys at the deck party ate 3 or 4 pieces (mind boggles). I still had plenty left over after the party so I went back up to my cube and looked over at the section next to mine. There were still several engineers working, so I raised the platter high and said, "I have Evil Chocolate here if anyone wants some!" and set it down. When I came back (no more than 3 minutes later, I swear), there were 8 pieces left. :-) I grabbed a couple for my brother and went home. My work there was done.
My friend Gerrie and I went to the Texas Renaissance Festival today. We were supposed to go with the World's Best Niece and her new boyfriend, but we got our dates crossed, so they are going together next weekend. Saw the band Wine & Alchemy (still about 50% of the reason I go to this show), bought their new CD, went and said hi to all the vendors I know, bought a couple of t-shirts*--what a shock, right?--and bought some lampworked glass simply because this guy was amazing. (I've always wanted to learn how to do this, and I do have a line on some classes. I need to budget time to learn this.)
Anyway, we ate great fair food like etouffe and peach cobbler and pork sandwiches and iced tea--we've been here often enough to avoid crap like the turkey legs--and ogled all the pretty, pretty men without their shirts and admired all the costumes and I may have bought a Medusa hat for Halloween. Good times.
Now I'm working my way through the huge bag of kettle corn I bought on the way out. I should really eat something more substantial tonight. Preferably with vegetables.
* One was this really nice Official Show Shirt with a great Green Man on it. The other was from the great sheepskin hat merchant I bought from last year. I actually wore her shirt back to her to let her know how many compliments I get on it. She was so thrilled! And after admiring my silver spiral earrings, she said if I came back and brought a pair of those we could dicker about some trading, which was a lovely compliment. I love my jewelry and I do OK at it, but this is her livelihood and it was a hell of a compliment to me.
