OK to preface: the last game system I owned was a yellow Pong set you hooked up to the TV.

Wii arrived today. It's very....wee. I have hardbacks bigger than this thing. It also looks like it was designed by Apple--all white, shiny surfaces.

Took me a few minutes of using my various remotes (I also have a TiVo and a DVD player hooked up to the TV), but I finally managed to get it working, Turning it on helped immensely.

The games (so far) are very intuitive, and the controller thingie is easy to use, even with the controller condom on it. I like the fact that when you hit something (like a baseball), you get some reverb/vibrations. Feedback is cool.

Got my butt kicked by the Wii in a) baseball and b) tennis. Discovered that even in virtual bowling, I have a left hook. And the game calls you a LOSER. Love it.

Ripley the cat is fascinated and a little jealous.

I may have to rearrange the living room to accomodate a toy.

Yes, God help me, I now have a Wii.

I subscribed to www.wiialerts.com and they did indeed let me know that Amazon had them this morning. Luckily most people were out shopping so they stayed on the site for awhile--at least 15 minutes; long enough for me to change credit card information and decide to not use my gift certificate balance on it. (Saving up for a new iPod!)

I figure I'll play with it and if I don't like it, I can sell it for at least what I paid for it. :-)

And it's not like I don't have access to all the games (stares at

dremiel).

I will, I will post two recipes when I get home. Good ones for parties, even.
